Usually on this website we only publish articles with topics pertaining to floating, but we decided to mix it up a little this time. As the title suggests, we will be looking at a few places where you can have fun in the water- but shouldn’t bring a canoe. To start things off, here’s a place every true Missourian has at least heard of, and most have gone and visited;
The Offsets at Mine La Motte: The Offsets are practically a Missouri landmark, with their fifty feet tall cliffs that you can jump from into their crystal clear water that reaches depths of fifty feet- it’s an enjoyable place for everyone! Even if cliff diving, or just relaxing in the water isn’t your thing, they have a zip-line course that’s open most of the year, a campground for those that wish to relax on dry land, and scuba diving for those who like to get a bit more adventure out of things! No matter who you are, they have something for you!
Johnson Shut-Ins: Johnson Shut-Ins is a lesser known, but equally as enjoyable location to visit. It is a state park located nine miles north of Lesterville. It has hiking, biking, and horse riding trails, as well as a campground and fishing spots. Its most fun activity though, has to be the shut-ins. The shut-ins are large rocks that are carved out of the Blackwater river in such unique shapes that you never know what the water you are in is going to be like! The depth of the water in the shut-ins ranges from six inches in some spots, to twelve feet in other random pools of water. There are a couple small waterfalls, and a large pool of water at the end of the shut-ins that goes to fifteen feet deep. If you go to this attraction, you won’t be disappointed!
Fugitive Beach: You may have heard of this attraction before if you have ever heard of the Fugitive Run Mud Obstacle Course, a muddy obstacle course they have set up. For the most part though, Fugitive Beach has stayed somewhat of a hidden gem here in Missouri. Located just five miles south of Rolla, Fugitive Beach offers its visitors over an acre of crystal green water, equipped with a dock for jumping off, and an enormous water slide, over sixty feet long! With specs’ like those, you are sure to be impressed by this attraction!
As you can see by just the few places I’ve named, there are lots of places to have fun in the water in Missouri, so armed with the information of where to go, there is nothing stopping you from getting out there and having an adventure!
