When you are wanting to go on a float trip you will need to make a list of all the items needed. The last thing you want is to get out there and forget your flash light or swim suit. The best way to do this is go down your list and put all the things you have in one pile or room to be sure it is all there.
When you begin you want to start with the basic things you will need. You will want to make sure you have a tent to sleep in and a waterproof camera to take pictures. You will also need sleeping bags to sleep in inside your tent. This will make it a little more comfortable. You can pack your pillow and sheet inside your sleeping bag to make it easier and save room. You will want to have a few things to make your life easier in the outdoors. These things include, toiletries, flash light, mosquito repellent, and sunscreen.
There are things that you will need to pack in a duffel bag such as summer clothes and your swim suit as well. Remember if you are going somewhere where it will be chilly at night you might want to bring some warmer clothes. You will also need some bungee cords to keep your dry food containers shut and to keep your coolers strapped to the canoe in case it tips. The bungees on the food will also help to keep the raccoons out of your food. The bungees are definitely a must when you are outdoors. Don’t forget them.
You will want a dry food container to keep all your dry good in. This container will have food such as bread, chips, crackers. You will also want to put other items in there such as plates, napkins, cups and any other things you want to keep dry and will need along the way. Eating utensils as well as cooking ones would be good for this container as well.
You will want to bring your cooler along as well. You will want to pack any drinks and food that needs to be kept cool. You will want to know that if you plan to drink, Missouri does not allow any glass containers on the water. Be sure to bring plastic beer bottles and if you are wanting to bring along wine you should put them in plastic containers as well.
There are other things that you will want to bring as well. These things are as follows:
Citronella Candles- these candles burn and can help deter bugs and this will come in very handy if you line them around your camp site.
Matches- you will need these to light your fire. Because of certain tree-borne diseases, it is highly recommended that you do not bring wood – you will need to purchase wood locally or gather it near your camp site.
Towels, shower shoes, and soap if you are staying at a camp ground with showers.
Lawn chairs and tiki torches are useful as well. This will make it more comfortable to sit around a cozy camp fire at night.
You will need to make sure you have your map, your sun glasses and you are ready to hit the road. I will express again that you make sure you go through your list and make sure you have it all. There may be other things that you will personally need so please be sure to put those on your list as well. If all these steps are followed you should have a fun and safe trip.
