We have 4 kids, ages 12-17.  We were going to do canoes last year but chickened out and went with the raft.  I think partially because my wife was afraid that the kids couldn't handle the canoe, but the Meramec was really calm.  This year we'll probably do the canoes with the kiddos.

I have been floting since I was six now 31, have taken my son since he was 8 mon. now 12 and we have only used a raft once. I like canoes better they are easier to control I think.
